Barbara Kruger’s Postmodern Art, links to Manovich

Posted by: hmoir on: September 6, 2008

The montage, layering, and cultural slippage in these works by Barbara Kruger are evidence of 2 of Manovich’s 3 cultural modes of address: cinema and text/ the printed word.  His third mode of address, the HCI, Human Computer Interface, is not evident in these artworks, perhaps because Kruger produced most of her works prior to the massive cultural influence of personal computers and related technology.
